Details for the next family reunion: Please stay tuned!


In the year of Our Lord, 1898 at Baily Town, Bimini, Bahamas, a son was born to Missionaries, 

William Uriah and Charlotte Jane Saunders. He was the ninth son and tenth child, given the name 

Alaric, after the King of the Goths. Alaric William Uriah Saunders aka Bishop A.W.U. Saunders.

The Saunders family reunion 2010 in Grand Bahamas was definitely an awesome event that will be 

remembered for decades to come. As you can see from the photographs, this is one huge family with 

a bunch of beautiful people that enjoy each other’s company to the fullest. This family sure knows 

how to have fun. Family members came out from hiding and we had a fantastic time. It was such a 

momentous occasion to see the interaction and collaboration among all family members. I never 

realized that we had so many comedians in the family. Besides the ‘dumps and licks’ on the jet 

skis, thank God we had no tragedies or horrific events. WE HAD A BLAST! This is definitely an 

event that should be continued on an annual basis and if possible in different locations to take 

advantage of our heritage. 

Special thanks goes out to all the committee and family members that made this event such a 

wonderful time to remember. Special thanks go out to Vanje McBride-Outten nee Saunders who opened  up her heart and made tremendous efforts to host the event in Freeport. Please everyone; let’s not

make it another twenty years and a few more missing family members just in our thoughts, before we 

get together again. Gog Bless you all and hope to see you very soon.

Hi All:

It was simply unbelievable that so many of you came. The actual reality set in on Sunday at the 

family bash at Solie's. The real fact was that you made the effort to come from each of papa and 

mothers children,,,,,awsome is just the word Shayne......... there was representation from each 

child......AND I MEAN NOT JUST ONE PERSON BUT THREE AND FOUR AND HEY TO EMIL,,,,THE ENTIRE FAMILY 

12 OF THEM .........just unbelieavable that we could love each others so much,,,, there was just 

so much love in this whole thing that I just can't discribe...... the love. The bonding, the 

fellowship and care for each other. I JUST LOVE BEING A SAUNDERS. MY PEOPLE OH MY PEOPLE YOU ARE 

TRUE TO THE CORE. For those of you who missed it, sorry.... sorry.... you will see the great times 

and love through our photos and then you will wish you were there, so sorry i know. NEXT 

YEAR.....yes NEXT YEAR....... THE COMMITTEE HAS MET AND WE ARE MOVING FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR SO 

START PUTTING THOSE FUNDS ASIDE IN A PRIVATE ACCOUNT FROM TODAYS DATE FOR NEXT YEAR BECAUSE ITS 

GOING TO BE GRAND. I MEAN A GRAND TIME JJJJJJJJJJUST LIKE WE KNOW HOW TO DO IT. THE GREAT SAUNDERS 

WAY. LOVE TO ALL OF YOU WHO CAME AND MADE THE FIRST A REALITY. WALT, SHAYNE, DIANNE, TANIKA, 

DWAYNE, HELEN, VANESSA, GET READY TO HEAD TO THE NEXT LEVEL AND DESTINATION. COMMITTEES ARE GOING  TO BE FORMED SOON AND WE EXPECT THE FULLEST COOPERATION FROM ALL. WHAT DO YOU SAY? LOVE

Let me join in on that shout out to the entire family who were able to attend the that "ROAR" of a 

weekend. Tatjana is still reeling, I am still whispering and Romy is still hyped. I think we will 

be in this zone for some time to come. Awsome it just one of many single adjectives to describe 

what we experienced.... As a matter of fact, before leaving Romy asked a few family members just 

that. What one word they feel can best describe the time we had together.

For those who missed this occasion, feel contented that we worked hard to makeup for your 

absence... JUST DON'T MISS IT NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Family is to be cherished, and to have a family with the ability to reach out to one another and 

get such overwhelming response to a "CALL" shows the depth of our love for each other and our

When you live abroad, one of the things you really come to cherish, is time with your family. It 

was awesome to see so many familiar faces, and some new ones too. Uncle Shayne captured it best, 

it was awesome.No doubt Saturday was my favorite, although I don't remember it all... followed  closely by the boat ride with uncle Solly. Favorite quote of the reunion; "he's doing donuts" a  nonymous little cousin, in response to our boat ride with Solly....lol
